The Up Side: Monday

This was my Facebook status yesterday: Angie Tobias doesn't see where pessimism gets anyone anywhere... so, maybe it is time to join the glass-half-full tribe folks and subscribe to the power of positive thinking. Can I get an Amen? ... It got a lot of enthusiastic Amen's and even a few "likes."
So, I have decided to inject my blog with regular optimism and begin looking at The Up Side (TUS). Starting NOW.
It is Monday. You know, just in case you didn't notice.... yeah right.
Monday tends to get a bad rap: "Week full of Mondays" ... "Bad case of the Mondays" ... "Omg, tomorrow is Monday!" [Groan]
I am a glass-half-full-er and although I have been caught saying all of the above at one point or another, I think it is time to let Monday off the hook. After all, it isn't Monday's fault that your weekend went by so quickly, that you are having a bad hair day, that your car won't start, or that your job sucks... etc. Right? It is just another day...
In order to change the negative connotations that we have with Monday, we will need to make some positive associations with Mondays in order to drive out the negative.
It is time to look at TUS
  • Monday is a perfect day to implement a change -- such as instituting mandatory family dinners, Monday Fun-day lunch out with co-workers, trying out a new hairstyle, etc.
  • It is the first day of the week, so it is a perfect opportunity to set the tone for the week! Whistle while you work... anyone? I mean, your week cannot be bad yet, it only just started.
Here are some ideas to help us to make this Monday the best Monday ever and start your week off with a BANG!
  • Compliment a stranger, a co-worker, or your loved ones... start their week off with a bang!
  • Make something extra special for dinner tonight... OR just add wine and candle light to your already scheduled spaghetti dinner.
  • Call up a relative or friend during your commute or while you are cooking dinner...one that you haven't had a chance to chat with in a while... and while you're at it, wish them a Happy Monday and pass on the TUS message!
HAPPY MONDAY! (and I don't mean that sarcastically!)
